Doves campaign for real beauty. Dove release a string of adverts and poster promoting real beauty but in fact, this caused a huge backlash and attracted many questions because of the way they produced the adverts and the negative light that came from there campaigns which some felt only highlighted women's issues. this campaign which aimed to make all women feel good about themselves caused huge controversy as it was seen to highlight women's issues and flaws. for example, the particular advert posted above was criticised for highlighting the difference between 'withered' and 'wonderful' and in fact suggests that you can not be both which does not help women enhance their beauty in actually highlights that 'withered' women should not feel beautiful. rather than helping express the idea everybody is beautiful they seem to be defining beauty in a certain way such as thin and young. the campaign also encourages women to compear themselves to other women and what they feel is a beautiful woman. Dove was also criticised for using incorrect statistics as they claimed only 2% of women classed themselves as beautiful which was a fake statistic.
