'Same old bollocks': BBC women hit out at equal pay review
The BBC was recently accused of having a pay gap between men and women, which went to cause a huge gender row. However, a recent report claims there is no evidence of gender bias at the BBC. “I have co-presented with a male colleague for many years. I estimate he’s paid around double what I earn for doing the same job,” said one of the unnamed women in a typical submission. “I raised the equal pay issue many times over the years, but nothing was done.” this is what one woman had to say on the issue and how she feels about her unequal treatment at the BBC. Over 140 women working for the BBC have claimed they feel the gender gap between themselves and their male co-parts is outrageous as BBC claim a recent report show there is no gender bias, despite the 6.8% pay gap.
The article was produced by the guardian which is a liberal far left-wing newspaper, although they claim they only write about factually stories and write fairly, however can sometimes been seen as bias views.
Gender equality is still such a huge issue with the employment rate for females being 40% where as men is as high as 56% showing that men are still more likely to get jobs over women in a country we claim is equal in its treatment of men and women. the age gap is so obvious at such a young as men still perform better at school then girls in subjects such as science and technology, subjects that many be more associated with boys.
A similar article written by the independent also talks about the pay gap between genders it talks about an analysis by the Young Women’s Trust of data from a survey of hours and earnings last year reveals that collectively, the UK’s 15 million working women are missing out on £138 billion each year, with the gap widening further when part-time work is taken into account. Many high skilled job sectors are hugely dominated by males still.

a very pertinent and timely report Millie, I think that you approach it very well and i love the headline.
ReplyDeleteIn order to improve this going forward you could have given us a little more contextuality. There is currently a huge movement with #metoo and #timeup campaigns about the mistreatment of women across all industries, you could have linked the two , i also believe that we are approaching the centenary of the Female Vote in Britain! this may have added some more weight to your writing. You should identify the REPRESENTATION is it Gender, Issue or both?
Well Done.
this was well written, contains a lot of elements of CCCEO, especially that of comparisons however you could of concluded more of your opinion.
