In recent years the number of young people left dead due to stabbings in all areas of the UK is at a devastating high. Sadly in recent years, knife crime has only risen with many of the victims being under the age of 20, this is very concerning and sadly becoming a normal occurrence. On new years eve alone this year four young people lost their lives due to knife crime. in this recent article from the independent, they discuss the issue as in 2017 the number of stabbing were at a high since 2008. 

The article I am referring to is the Independent, which is a tabloid newspaper who claim they are, "free from party political bias, free from proprietorial influence" which would suggest they are a fair and reliable source of information.

The article discusses the already high number of deaths due to kinfe crime mainly in the capital and how the police will have to work tirelessly to redcue the crime. they talk about the main reason for the incdents such as robbried and gang related violence.

A recent report from the Croydon advertiser revealed shocking statistics, there were 683 crimes involving knives in the borough from April 1, 2016, to March 31, 2017 - up from 337 offences in the previous 12-month period. in the whole of the UK knife crime has risen by 21% in the last 12 months. 

I feel this is shocking and sadly so frequently happening in our community. so many young incent people have lost their lives due to silly issues that could have been resolved.
