England stun Australia with a penalty shot on the siren to win netball gold

The English women's netball team last night soared to victory to claim a win over Australia in the commonwealth games and become the first ever English team to take the gold in this event. since there successes there has been a fair amount of media coverage on the success and praise for the women.

This is feeling is great as women are often painted in a very different light in the media whereas here I feel for once they are being shown as strong as successful. in the article, the women are often described as hero's and addmerational which are very positive words which I feel the media would not traditionally relate to women.

Women in sports such as football and tennis often receive far less credit then the equivalent mean's team would and are paid a very lower wage, therefore, to see this women's team recognised is showing that there may be a slight change in this and women's sport are becoming more recognised. we are often used to seeing women being sexualised within the media and portrayed as objects.

women in sport are often paid noticeably less then there male counterparts, for example in sports such as tennis the highest paid female star being Serena Williams will be paid $84,000 whereas the heist paid male star being Rodger Federer is estimated to earn $120,000. considering they are both the top performers in there sports it is fairly shocking the difference in there pay. this is however very common as women in many other sports such as football would receive far less then there a male equivalent and it is not only in the sport this happens which is evident to us in the light of the BBC scandal exposing the gender pay gap.
