Violent crimes including knife attacks committed by under-tens soared by 38 percent last year

In an article produced by the Sun newspaper, they discuss the issue or children under ten committing violent crimes in society. The arrival highlights how in the last year the number of recorded violent crimes committed by children under the age of then has risen by 38 percent since last year. This is a hugely worrying statistic and causes for concern for the younger generation.

I feel the rise in crimes committed by younger children could be because of media they are exposed to and there access to be internet and videos lent games they may be playing.

Figures from a Sun Freedom of Information request show under-tens were linked to more than 2,604 offences in 2017 — a 38 percent increase on 2016’s total of 1,891. These statistics show that the younger generation is overly exposed to crimes and violence and may feel in today's society it is normal and acceptable because of the number of crimes we see in the UK, and London alone. These children may be so used to seeing violence in the media and on TV that they feel it is a normal occurrence and may not see it as being wrong.

In my opinion, the younger generation is hugely exposed to video menace within the media and in video games and arc shows they may see which leads them to believe this behaviour is the norm.  I feel the media are huge to blame for the rise in violence as they almost make it acceptable for young people to commit these violent crimes by writing stories about then and bright light to them. furthermore, more violent video games are being more accessible to younger children and many parents admit they would let their child play a game with a higher age restriction.

exposing children under the age of ten to certain media and video games can be dangerous and can be to blame for this rise as children at this age are not developed enough to have an understanding of the different between the game and real life and may not understand that it is not okay to act like this in society. violent video games being played at a young age could once cause for deviance in society. the rise in crime can partly be blamed on the parent as they expose their children to see this media and allow them to play these games.

The source was produced by the sun which is a tabloid newspaper, who are thought to be favourable of the conservative party and over the years have had a  close connection with the party, therefore, some views could be seen as bias to protect the party or paint them in a good light. however, I do not feel the is story is supportive of the party as it is highlighting the issues in society and the issues with the younger generation.
